    Dr. Shahab Toursavadkohi is professor of surgery at the University of Maryland Medical Center and School of Medicine, co-director of aortic center, quality improvement officer of vascular surgery division, director of medical student in vascular surgery rotation and director of UMMC Annual Vascular Surgery Symposium.

    Dr. Toursavadkohi received his medical degree from the Tehran University of Medical Sciences. He completed general surgery residency at Henry Ford Hospital and joined University of Maryland for his vascular surgery fellowship and later as a faculty.

    Dr. Toursavadkohi’s clinical and research interests have focused on the surgical treatment of aortic and thoracoabdominal aneurysms, peripheral arterial disease, and peripheral vascular disease. In 2016, he initiated the Vascular Acute Case Surgery (VACS), which is the first service program in the country that covers around the clock vascular emergencies.
    In collaboration with cardiac surgery, Dr. Toursavadkohi constructed a comprehensive, regionally recognized program (Center for Aortic Disease) which addresses the most complex aortic pathologies utilizing innovative endovascular and hybrid approaches.
    At the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC), he developed the incorporation of the fenestrated and branch endovascular repair for aortic arch, thoracoabdominal and juxta-renal aortic aneurysms and dissections, making UMMC one of the few sites in country to utilize endovascular technology for treatment of aortic diseases from aortic valve to iliac.
